Baking Fortune Cookies at Home Is Easy and Fun!

Making fortune cookies at home can be a fun and rewarding experience.

Here's a simple recipe for making homemade fortune cookies:

Ingredients:

• 2 large egg whites
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
• 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1 pinch of salt
• 3 tablespoons water
• Fortunes: Small strips of paper with your custom messages
• Cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.

   Prepare the Fortunes: Cut small strips of paper (about 2.5 inches long) and write your personalized messages or fortunes on them. Set them aside.

3. Mix the Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the egg whites, vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and vegetable oil until well combined.

4. Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour, granulated sugar, and salt to the wet ingredients. Stir until you have a smooth batter.

Then, while the cookie is still warm, gently bend the folded cookie in the middle to create the classic fortune cookie shape. You can use the edge of a cup or the rim of a glass to help with shaping.

9. Cool and Set: Hold the cookie in place for a few seconds until it holds its shape. Place the shaped cookie into a muffin tin or an egg carton to cool and set completely.

10. Repeat: Repeat the process with the remaining batter and fortunes.
